The RSS News Viewer is a freeware plugin that lets you view RSS feeds from inside the structured version of FrameMaker 7.x.

- RDF Site Summary (RSS) is a well-established web protocol that allows web developers to publish content on their web site in a manageable format. RSS repackages the content as a list of XML data items, such as the date, summary, or hyperlink to a story.
- In addition to being a useful web resource, the RSS News Viewer plugin could be used within an organization to provide FrameMaker users with a Message of the Day, online support, corporate information, or even boilerplate document content (copyright information, contact data, and so forth). Because the news window is a structured FrameMaker document, this material could be easily integrated into an XML environment, or flattened and retagged.
- This plugin is compliant with version 2.0 of the RSS standard. An enhanced release that can interpret XML namespaces and parse inline HTML markup is in development.

Installation
To install and license the RSS News Viewer plugin, do the following:
- Download the archive containing the plugin from the link provided at the top of this page.
- Extract the contents to the /fminit/Plugins folder of your FrameMaker installation directory.
- Start or restart FrameMaker. The utility is added to the main toolbar under the heading Zenserve.
